212478 Maj. John Henry Brabazon MC.British Army 137 Heavy Battery Royal Garrison Artillery from:Dublin Fifth Supplement to The London Gazette, volume WO389/7, Number 30813, Page 8779: Awarded the Military Cross.
T./Lt. John Henry Brabazon, R.G.A. For conspicuous gallantry and
devotion to duty in remaining at his observation post in a precarious position and enabling the battery to inflict severe losses on the advancing infantry." Essigny on 21st March 1918, while John Henry served with 137 Heavy Battery RGA. He was my grandfather. Additional Information: | My grandfather Robert Galloway Bremner wrote an epic story in his memoir about the 20 and 21 March 1918 he said it was near St Quentin. We have never been able to work out quite where. He wrote that he was with the 137 Battery he mentions a Tovee, a Vaudry and an Irish colleague call Brabason (his spelling) who had made everyone celebrate St Patrick's day on the 17th! After a bit of Googling today I believe he must have been near Essigny because of your grandfather being awarded the MC
