James Jackson left behind a widow and three little daughters all under the age of 5 years.
Additional Information:
James Jackson service no. 14503 8th Battalion Border Regiment. He was born in Ulverston in 1890. He lived at Holme Village near Milnthorpe where he worked as a Horseman at Green Gate Farm. He met his wife Eliza Coward at Holme and they married in December 1911 at Urswick Near Ulverston. Between 1912 and 1914 they had 3 daughters, Violet , Madge and Muriel. He enlisted in September 1914 along with the other boys from Holme . He was officially reported missing after nearly a month on August 19th 1916. Then on 28th April 1917 he was officially presumed killed. His name is listed on the memorial at Holme and also on the cross at Urswick.
