214264 L/Cpl. Harold Wright Britsh Army 18th Btn. West Yorkshire Regiment from:Addingham (d.15th July 1916) Harold Wright was born in the Yorkshire Village of Addingham in 1894. He volunteered in 1915 and joined what was to become known as the 2nd Bradford Pals otherwise 18th Battalion West Yorkshire Regiment. His initial posting overseas was to Egyt with his unit. In early 1916 the unit was transferred to France and he was seriously wounded in the 1st or 2nd day of the battle of the Somme. He was transported back to England but died in hospital in Plymouth on 15th July 1916. He is buried in a family plot at Heaton cemetery in Bradford. He was awarded the 1914/15 star, victory medal and British medal, some of which where after his death.
