Ernest Pegram joined the Northumberland Fusiliers at the outbreak of WW1. His record shows that he was transferred to the Royal Naval Reserve and then to Hood Battalion, Royal Naval Division. He was injured in the Dardanelles and spent time in hospital in Egypt.
His record shows he was treated at 88th Field Ambulance Clearing Station, Dardanelles, then 1st Australian Hospital, Cairo. He was transferred to the
NZ Hospital at Halouan then the Citadel Clearing Depot, Cairo, spending time in the Convalescent Hospital Luxor and 19th General Hospital, Alexandria.
