Michael Coyne died age 35 whilst serving with the 2nd Btn Northumberland Fusiliers. He was the son of the late Thomas and Catherine Coyne of Jarrow and husband of Rose Ann Flaherty (formerly Coyne nee Collins) of 17 Burns Street Jarrow. On the 1911 census he is recorded as Michael Coyne age 30 Labourer in Shipyard is with his wife Rose Ann Coyne and children at 61 Albion Street, Jarrow. He was born and lived Jarrow and enlisted in Wallsend.
His younger brother John Coyne was also one of the fallen.
Michael is remembered on the Ploegsteert Memorial and is commemorated on the Triptych in St. Paul's Church Jarrow.
