Archibald Edgar Baron Bowker went to India at the beginning of the war (details not known).
In October 1916 he joined the 7th Middlesex in the line at Neuve Chapelle. He Became Adjutant in January 1917. He was hospitalised twice being gassed at Telegragh Hill on April 24th.
He returned to the regiment in August and was awarded a Military Cross at the Battle of the Scarpe.
Having returned to civilian life, he tried to join up in 1939 but was too old. He became a leading member of the Home Guard in Golders Green, North London. He died at the age of 84.
