Casualties in North Country Regiments - The following casualties have been officially notified:
Killed -
Official information has been received at Jarrow that Company Sergeant Major Patrick McLaughlin, who was formerly a commissionaire at Palmers Works, Jarrow, and whose home was in Stanley Street, was killed in action on March 27. Lt Crawford has written to Mrs McLaughlin stating 'We had just captured the German trenches when he was struck by a bullet that killed him instantaneously. He was loved and respected by all the officers and men in the company, and I feel personally his loss more than words can convey".
