218993 Pte. Thomas Arthur Jones British Army 10th Btn. Royal Welsh Fusiliers from:Ruabon (d.20th Jul 1916) Thomas Arthur Jones was my great, great grandfather. I am currently painting his portrait upon request of my grandfather.
I decided to put a folder together documenting my great, great grandfathers life so that our family may never forget our relatives or indeed anybody that gave their lives for this country.
Thomas Arthur Jones lived in Ruabon with his wife and two children. He enrolled as a soldier in Manchester. Tommy served with the 10th Battalion in the Royal Welsh Fusiliers. I am not sure of the year that he enrolled but I know that he died on 20th July 1916 at the Somme.
His final resting place lies in France but he is remembered in his home town of Ruabon. Additional Information: | His Service Record mentions his marriage to Mary Ann Williams on 28 October 1912 and had 2 Children Robert Thomas Born 2 Nov 1912 and Albert 28 August 1914. Alan Clarke

| Sarah, Your G Grandfather, my Grandfather, Joined the Royal Garrison Artillary in Manchester on the 2nd November 1914, the day of the birth of my father, his son. He served with the RGA in Gibraltar for some time. He left the RGA and transferred to the RWF 10th Battalion in May 1916 before he fell in Delville Wood on the 20th July 1916. By coincidence his G Grandaughter was also born on the 2nd November.Jonathan
