Pte. Charles Henry Kemp (G/10291) wasb orn in Biddenden, Kent, he enlisted in Maidstone, Kent and served with the 10th Battalion, Royal West Kent Regiment. He died on 11th October 1916 aged 23.
On 7th October 1916 the 10th Battalion was near Mametz Wood on the Somme. It moved forward and attacked a German trench system known as Gird Trench. On 10th October 1916 the Battalion was in Mametz Wood. On 12th October it moved to Dernancourt. Charles was killed somewhere in Mametz Wood and his body probably still lies beneath the ground there.
Charles has no known grave. His name appears on the Thiepval Memorial on The Somme, France.
