L/Cpl. Alfred Law

British Army 7th Battalion Gloucestershire Regiment

from:Smethwick, Worcestershire

(d.8th Aug 1915)

Alfred Law was born in 1897, one of 10 Children. When the First World War started he enlisted at Smethwick and served with the 7th Battalion Gloucestershire Regiment. We do not know where he fought up to 8th August 1915 when he was killed in action at Gallipoli. He was a great man and is remembered by all the family.

Additional Information:

My Great uncle Alfred Law was killed near Helles as his name is written on the memorial wall around the obelisk. I have seen a photo of a row of skeletons near to there with a soldier standing guard over them and as a result we believe one of the skeletons is that of mr Great Uncle. We are going to lay some poppies in our garden in 3 days time to mark the 100th Anniversary of his death.
