Pte. Henry William Tullett

British Army 11th Btn. Royal West Kent Regiment

from:Deptford

(d.15th Sep 1916)

Henry Tullett was my Grandfather who joined up in 1915 at Lewisham and went to France. In May 1916 he was killed at the assault on Fleurs on the 15th of September 1916. He is now buried at Thiepval Cemetery, he left behind a wife and 2 sons Henry and George who he never saw.

Additional Information:

Henry had an identical twin brother called Joseph Charles Tullett (my grandfather). He served with Henry in the Royal West Kent. He was with Henry when he was killed on 15/9/16. My grandfather told us that they were running through a wood and Henry was hit by a sniper's bullet. He died instantly. I visited Thiepval and with the help of the re burial certificate and a lady at the museum, we managed to work out that the wood was called Delville. He was re-buried at Thievpal in December 1931.
