221267 Pte. Arthur Thomas Williams British Army 1/4th Battalion East Yorkshire Regiment from:Hull (d.19 June 1916) arthur Williams koined the 4th. East Yorks (TA) at Londesborough Street Barracks before WW1 started as a volunteer.
I also served in the same TA barracks in the Int Corps and then later as OC of B Company The 2nd Bn. Yorkshire Volunteers and it is only just a few months ago that we found out that Arthur Thomas had served in the 4th. East Yorks. This is the direct line to the 2Bn Yorkshire Volunteers. He was my Great Uncle and we had never hear of him, isn't that terrible!!
Additional Information: | Arthur T Williams was my (paternal) Great Grandfather.
My Dad, Alun, recalled the only time my Grand-dad Clive, ever mentioned Arthur to him...."You're just like your Grand-dad you are, you can't keep your head down".
While my Grandad was obviously giving my Dad a telling off, it also showed his sense of humour which he will always be known for.Daniel Williams
