Editor's Note:- Private 35732 Ernest Waters, of the 25th Northumberland Fusiliers, was formerly Private 50314 of the 2nd Battalion West Yorkshire Regiment.
At the time of his death, his Battalion were involved in the Battle of Lys (also known as the Lys Offensive or the 4th Battle of Ypres). Its losses were so great that, following the battle, the Division was reduced to cadre strength and moved from the front line. He has no known grave but is commemorated on Panet 2 of the Ploegsteert Memorial.
