from:Rochester, Kent
My grandfather, Percival Maurice Sharpe, was in the 10th Btn. and was injured at Poziers in Northern France and was hit in the arm. He was told that the arm had to come off but as luck would have it he was sent home to England the arm was saved.
Then he went out again to France he was promoted from Lieutenant to Captain. He served from 1915 - 1918. He survived the War.
In 1918 he went to Russia to help out there to stop the fighting and the revolution. He returned to England. After the war he went back to Coutts then he became a cannon at Rochester Cathedral in Kent until he died in 1978 aged 84 having been born in 1894.
