Patrick Barry went to the Christian Brothers School, Richmond, Victoria. He was Roman Catholic and worked as a Miner. He lived in Ipswich, Queensland and was married. He enlisted on the 20th of May 1916 at the age of 43. His unit embarked from Brisbane, Queensland, on board HMAT A36 Boonah on 21st of October 1916. He was killed in action on The Black Line, Messines Rd near Seaforth Farm on 10th of June 1917.
He has no known grave and is commemorated on The Ypres (Menin Gate) Memorial in Belgium.
