Rflmn. Louis Romanini
British Army 2nd Btn. Rifle Brigade
from:Shadwell, London
(d.7th Aug 1916)
Louis Romanini is my great great uncle, who joined the 2nd Btn Rifle Brigade Prince Consorts Own in December 1915. He went on to fight in the Battle of the Somme on the 1st July 1916 and was after sent to Vermelles where he was killed on 7th of August 1916 at the young age of 20.
To Louis it was a great adventure and a short war as many of our young lads were led to believe.
In 2014 I traveled to France to see where the Battle of the Somme took place and to visit his grave in Vermelles British Cemetery, as well as many other battlefields including Ypres in Belgium With the Western Front Association. I am very proud of my great great Uncle Louis.
