Pte. Thomas Low

Royal Army Medical Corps 1/3 3rd Highland Field Ambulance

Thomas Low was my grandmother's cousin. He was born in Blairgowrie, Perthshire, Scotland in February 1900 and died of his wounds on 29th July 1916. He is buried at Heilly Station Cemetery, France and his grave number is 11E35. He . He joined up in Dundee, Scotland, and was involved in the Battle of the Somme.

Additional Information:

He was one of 3 RAMC bearers from 3rd HFA killed or died of wounds and mentioned in the Unit war diary whilst the unit provided an ADS at BecourtBecordel. The others were Pte Scott also Died of Wounds and the other being Pte Peter Adamson who is listed as killed . He is buried in Dartmoor Cemetery When 51Highland Div were in action at High Wood, all 3 Highland Field Ambulances had Bearers operating forward of the ADS and at least 3 other RAMC bearers are interred at Dartmoor , Pte’s Lumsden, Dawson and Donaldson all from 1/2. And 2/1 Highland Field Ambulances
