231518 Capt. William Anderson "Anson" Cowie MC.British Army 9th Btn. Royal Welsh Fusiliers (d.30 May 1918) I am researching William Cowie as he appears on a memorial at my local church in Scotland. I just wish to put a face and story to a name. Additional Information: | William Anderson Cowie was my great uncle. My grandma’s elder brother. He was born in 1894 in Edinburgh. When the war broke out he was living in Newport, Monmouthshire and joined the Monmouthshire Regt as a private. He then joined the Royal Welsh Fusiliers. He had been promoted to Captain when he was killed in hand to hand fighting in the Third battle of Aisne and is listed on the Soissons war memorial with no known grave. We have all his war medals.
Could you let me know which church this is as we were totally unaware of it.
