Pte. Claude George

British Army 2nd Btn. Oxford and Bucks Light Infantry

Claude George was the son of the late Henry and Jane George, husband of Harriett George of Kelvistow, 6 Garsington Rd., Cowley, Oxford. He was born in London. He was 32 when he died and is buried in the Prague (Olsany) Cemetry in the Czech Republic. His grave is located in the main Cemetery and is commemorated by a grey slate headstone.

Additional Information:

George, C. (Machine Room, Wharfedale). Enlisted on 28 Aug. 1914 in the Oxf. & Bucks L.I. [Light Infantry], serving in England in the 3rdBn. To 26 Jan. 1915.  In France from that date in the 2nd Bn. (52nd), and later, for two years travelling on Secret Service.  Engagements (1915): La Bassee 12-16 Mar.;  Festubert, Richebourg, Neuve Chappell, May (reported missing); Loos, Sept. Died, at Prague, on 17 Dec. 1918.
