Arthur Byfield served with the 17th Middlesex Regiment and 6th Entrenching Battalion.
Additional Information:
He enlisted in August 1914, was sent to France in the same year and took part in the battles of Mons, The Somme, Cambrai, Deville Wood. Ypres and Oppy Wood. He was wounded 5 times, once severely and was awarded the Distinguished Conduct Medal for Conspicuous Gallantry in the Field.
He holds also the 1914 star and clasp, General Service and Victory medals and was discharged in March 1919.
He served with the 1st, 17th attd 6th Entrenching battalion and 1/8th Middlesex Regiment and ended his service as WO Class 1 RSM.
