Sgt. George Thomas Brown DCM

British Army 17th Coy. Machine Gun Corps

from:Harefield, Middlesex

(d.31st July 1917)

George Brown DCM served with 17th Company, Machine Gun Corps.

Additional Information:

According to my Auntie, my grandmother Nellie Green married a Brown and marriage records show a wedding in period Apr-Jun 1917 at Eton between George T Brown and Nellie Green. She recalled he was a machine gunner who was killed in WW1. Nellie moved to NZ in Dec 1920 after the Brown family did not want to know her following his death. The 1911 Census shows Nellie Green (born 1893 Luton, Bedfordshire), was a servant/ Nurse maid to the Brown gamily who lived in Pinner, Middlesex. Story we were told that a Brown family member took a shine to Nellie much to the disdain of the Brown family wo were quite wealthy. Douglas Kingsmill Brown her employer was also an Accounts Clerk at the Bank of England. Interested if you have any more details of Brown/Green
