242391 L/Cpl. David Orrells British Army 3rd Btn. Rifle Brigade from:Gelli, Glamorgan (d.9th August 1917) While filming a corporate project in Ypres earlier this year relating to the disposal of unexploded ordnance, I found David Orrells name on the Menin Gate Memorial. I subsequently learned he was in fact my great great uncle. He was killed by shellfire with 5 others in the afternoon of Thursday 9th August 1917 according to the war diary of 3Bn Rifle Brigade. His is currently not listed on any war memorial in the UK and I am trying to get interest from Rhondda Cynon Taff Council to add his name to the memorial at Gelli where he was living when he enlisted in 1912.
