243049 Piper. Peter Farrell British Army 2nd Btn. Leinster Regiment My grandfather joined the British Army before the Great War despite having received an educational scholarship. He was a piper in the 2nd Leinsters. He was injured at some point with an injury to his head. Following the disbandment of the Regiment he received a British Army pension, however, he lost this due to his involvement with the fight for Irish independence (something I still feel angry on his behalf about). He married my grandmother and they had 12 children. He died in 1969. He is mentioned a few times in a publication called Stand To. A diary of the trenches by Captain F.C Hitchcock. Additional Information: | My grandfather served with Peter Farrell. He was a stretched bearer his name was Private Peter Reid and is mentioned several times in Stand To. He probably buried your grandfather. Do look him up in Stand To, he was a legend.Gerry Reid
