Additional Information:

Sjt Harry Boker Dawson DCM was my Grandfather on my Mothers side. He died when I was a year old, in 1952. He told his family that one of the saddest days of his life was when he was ordered to shoot his dapple grey horse as they were falling back. That horse had saved his life on many occasions. He rarely spoke of the horrors of war in the trenches, that he survived, was enough. He suffered shell shock back home in the hospital in England. Today It is known as Post Traumatic Stress Syndrome.
