248608 Pte. John Edward Blackburn British Army 9th (County of London) Btn. London Regiment from:24 High Street, Melford Road, Walthamstow (d.14th April 1917) John Blackburn was born in 1889 at Islington, Middlesex, to Annie Louise Thompson, age 25, and John Blackburn, age 27. He had four brothers and four sisters. He was a musician, and travelling pianist. He married Lilian Rachel King, 26 Apr 1908 at Bromley, Middlesex, England. They had two children, one boy and one girl. He enlisted, serving with the 9th (County of London) Battalion (Queen Victoria's Rifles) in France and Flanders. John was killed in action at Arras, on the 14th of April, 1917.
