249614 Sgt. Alfred Ernest Nokes British Army 6th Divisional Ammunition Column Royal Field Artillery from:2 Sirdar Road, Tottenham Alfred Nokes enlisted on 26th of February 1909. He was discharged, as the result of his wounds, on 9th of December 1918. He must have been to most places that the 6th Divisional Ammunition Column visited between 1914 and 1918. He received Pip, Squeak and Wilfred, but also a 1914 Star clasp and the Silver War Badge.
Tragically, he died in a double drowning, with his wife Lilian, in 1939. Both were recovered from the River Thames in Rotherhithe. He was living in Peabody Square, Blackfriars Road, Southwark, in 1937.
