George Wood, my grandfather, was born on 4th July 1891. He joined the 1st East Yorkshire Regiment in August 1914 at Hull, which we know because his original wedding certificate is stamped on the reverse with this information and his Service Number.
He survived the war and was awarded the Victory Medal, British War Medal and the 1914 Star.
According to the Victory Medal Roll he served with the 1st, 7th and 10th Battalions, East Yorkshire Regiment.
He died in December 1972.
