254523 Pte. William Fishburn British Army 1st/5th Btn. Yorkshire Regiment from:Gt Langton (d.12th Mar 1916) Billy Fishburn was my uncle, my mother's eldest brother. They lived in the small village of Gt Langton. He was the eldest boy in a family of 12 children, and had been working as a farm labourer before joining up, I think quite early in war. All I know is that he bought my mother a little toy before he left. Then the next thing she remembered was the telegram. He hadn't died straight away but was taken to hospital and died of his wounds. He died 12th of March 1916 soon after his 20th birthday and is buried at Etaples Cemetery.
