262069 L/Cpl. Oscar Milton Whiteley British Army 323rd Quarrying Company Royal Engineers from:Elland, West Yorkshire. (d.31st October 1917) Oscar Whiteley was my grandfather. He died as the result of an accident. His death took place at No 30 General Hospital, Calais and he is buried in Les Baraques British Cemetery, Sangatte. He left a wife, Kate and one son, my father John. Due to family circumstances I did not really know my father. He left home when I was seven. Hence, I had no medals or any thing which belonged to my grandfather, until six months ago when I found his death penny on the internet. It is now in my office.
