William Marchant born 23rd of Jan 1898 in Bradford, West Yorkshire was the oldest son of Charles James Marchant and Sarah Ann Bourne.
He died in France and Flanders,
killed in Action with 2 officers and another soldier on 10th of April 1918
Originally he signed up to the West Riding Regiment, the Duke of Wellingtons and transferred to Machine Gun Corps on 28th of December 1916.
His British War Victory Medal was accepted by his father in Brighouse on 26th of April 1922.
He is remembered on the Ploegsteert Memorial in Belgium. He was the eldest brother to my maternal grandmother Lily Watson nee Marchant.
