Pte. William Henry Jarrett
British Army 7th Btn. Royal Warwickshire Regiment
from:74 Kensington Rd, Earlsdon, Coventry
My Grandfather, William Jarrett did not talk very much about his war experiences, but he did mention that he had earned extra money carrying a Lewis gun and always walked behind the tanks, considering that the safest place.
He signed up with his mates and lied about his age to join up.
He fought in the Battle of the Somme. He saved his money and sent it all home to his Mother to save for him but when he returned his Father had spent it all, figuring he'd never survive the War.
He was also in Egypt at the end of the War in the Defence Unit and Corps.
