12th February 1915

On this day:

  • German Bombing Policy   An Imperial Order dated 12 February 1915 authorised the bombing of London's docks, which was interpreted by the German General Staff as permitting bombing targets east of Charing Cross. This interpretation was formally accepted by the Kaiser on 5 May 1915.

The first Navy attempts to bomb London, made by LZ33(L8), failed owing to poor weather.

Much equipment ammunition etc. was handed over to the Brigade which relieved us in the trenches, a very great saving of labour and of risk.
