1020 I am trying to find out if there were any German POWs in the Flookburgh area in 1918. My family lived there around Flookbough and Cartmel. They worked on farms and in the gunpowder makers. My father was born in Preston, Lancs and he told me his father was a German POW. I have a copy of his birth certificate and he was named Joseph Festubert Hartley, born 17.9.1919. I have a 1901 census and the Hartley family lived in Flookbough at that time but I don't know when they moved to Preston.
