1st Battalion, Hertfordshire Regiment
1st Battalion, Hertfordshire Regiment were mobilised when war broke out in 1939, they were engaged in home defence duties. They were deployed to Gibraltar in April 1943 and then to North Africa in July 1944 then to Italy. They were sent to Palestine in February 1945 and remained there until August 1946.

My great uncle Christopher O'Mahony travelled up to Belfast from Cork to enlist at the start of March 1941. He joined up with three of his brothers. All four brothers survived the war. Christopher settled in London after the war.Dave O'Mahony
