Pte. Alexander Hendry Purcell 7th Btn Kings Own Scottish Borderers
My father, Alexander Purcell was captured at Arnhem and was sent to a PoW camp in Germany. I have his war papers and it states he was a PoW in Germany for 6 months and 6 days. I was contacted by another soldier a few years ago who was with my father then and he sent me a photograph of them in Normandy. His name was Fred Tattershall. I believe he has now passed away.Peter Purcell
Pte. Billy Colkin 7th (Airborne) Btn. Kings Own Scottish Borderers
My uncle Billy Colkin was a member of the 7th King's Own Scottish Borderers and after volunteering for the airborne training went to the south of England for glider training. I also heard that when they retreated which was over some water, he could not swim so stayed to protect the wounded, he was captured and I believe he was kept in a detention camp.
Sgt. Albert Francis Coolman 7th Battalion Kings Own Scottish Borderers
My grandfather, Albert Coolman, was wounded and captured at the Battle of Arnhem. Any information to aid my research would be gratefully received.
