1st Battalion, Royal Welch Fusiliers
1st Battalion, Royal Welch Fusiliers went to France as part of the BEF in 1939, and were in action in the Battle of France. After reorganising they took on home defence duties in the UK then deployed to India in 1942 and saw action in the Burma campaign until the end of the war.

Wanted: Digital copies of Group photographs, Scrapbooks, Autograph books, photo albums, newspaper clippings, letters, postcards and ephemera relating to WW2. We would like to obtain digital copies of any documents or photographs relating to WW2 you may have at home.If you have any unwanted photographs, documents or items from the First or Second World War, please do not destroy them. The Wartime Memories Project will give them a good home and ensure that they are used for educational purposes.

Shadrech Davies 1st Btn. Royal Welsh Fusiliers
Not a lot is known about Shadrech Davies's WWII record. He served in India and Burma and was employed as a driver attached to a field hospital driving a Major Bailey (a doctor) around and stretcher carrying. It would be nice if anybody could tell me any more about him.Frank Davies
Fus. Thomas Flanagan 1st Btn. Royal Welch Fusiliers (d.15th May 1940)
Thomas Flanagan who died aged 30 was born in 1912 in Jarrow. He was the son of Thomas and Sarah Flanagan (nee O'Brien) of Jarrow. His younger brother Joseph was also one of the fallen.Thomas is buried in Leopoldsburg War Cemetery and is commemorated on the WW2 Roll of Honour Plaque in the entrance of Jarrow Town Hall.
