17th Field Company, Royal Engineers
17th Field Company, Royal Engineers served with 3rd Division. They proceeded to France in late September 1939 and saw action during the Battle of France, being evacuated to the UK in late May 1940. They saw action across North Western Europe from mid 1944 until the end of the Second World War.

Cpl. Arthur Blaney 17th Field Coy. Royal Engineers (d.1st June 1940)
Arthur Blaney was the son of Charles and Margaret 'Maggie' (McGlade) Blaney. Born 13th of April 1920 he was 19 years of age when word came that he was missing in action after he was trapped on the Dunkirk Beaches. His body was never found and family verbal history tells that the information given is that Arthur was lost at sea. He is remembered on the Dunkirk War Memorial.Rosetta McGlinchey
