L/Cpl Norman B. Reeder Royal Corps of Signals
My Dad's cousin, Norman Reeder, was with the Expeditionary Force in Malaya attached to 48th Light Anti Aircraft Regiment, RA, Signal Section and was captured on 9th of March 1942. He was in a Japanese POW camp in Borneo for the remainder of the war. There is no record of when he was liberated but the camp was liberated on 11th Sept 1945, 4 days before the Japanese were planning to execute the 2000 plus remaining prisoners and internees.Norman, his wife Hilda and their daughter, Janet, aged 2, emigrated to Wellington, New Zealand on 22nd March 1951. I never knew about this part of my family history until I found this information but I'd love to hear from any descendants or other relatives who may know more about Norman.
