World War 2 Two II WW2 WWII 1939 1945

145th Infantry Brigade



   145th Brigade consisting of the 4th Battalion, Oxfordshire and Buckinghamshire Light Infantry, 1st Buckinghamshire Battalion, Oxfordshire and Buckinghamshire Light Infantry, 4th Battalion, Royal Berkshire Regiment, all territorial units, was mobilised on the outbreak of war in September 1939 and proceeded to France as part of 48th Division. 145th Infantry Brigade Anti-Tank Company was formed in the Brigade in October 1939. In February 1940 4th Berkshires exchanged with the regular 2nd Battalion, Gloucestershire Regiment. The Brigade was evacuated from Dunkirk after suffering heavy losses in the Battle of France. After a time on Home Defence duties, 145th Brigade became a training formation in December 1942, exchanging 1st Buckinghamshire Battalion and 2nd Gloucesters for 6th King's Own Royal (Lancaster) Regiment and 5th Royal Inniskilling Fusiliers. 145th Brigade was disbanded in November 1943 with the units transferring to other formations.

Wanted: Digital copies of Group photographs, Scrapbooks, Autograph books, photo albums, newspaper clippings, letters, postcards and ephemera relating to WW2. We would like to obtain digital copies of any documents or photographs relating to WW2 you may have at home.

If you have any unwanted photographs, documents or items from the First or Second World War, please do not destroy them. The Wartime Memories Project will give them a good home and ensure that they are used for educational purposes.
