8th Infantry Brigade
At the outbreak of the Second World War in September 1939, 8th Brigade was commanded by Brigadier Frank Hole Witts DSO MC ADC. Brigade Headquarters was at Crownhill Fort. They proceeded to France in late September 1939 and saw action during the Battle of France, being evacuated to the UK in late May 1940. They saw action across North Western Europe from mid 1944 until the end of the Second World War.8th Brigade was made up of
