World War 2 Two II WW2 WWII 1939 1945

153rd Infantry Brigade



   153rd Brigade served with 51st (Highland) Division and proceeded to France with the BEF in 1939. They were captured at St Valery in June 1940 and was reformed in August by the redesignation of 27th Brigade, 9th (Highland) Division and went on to see action in North Africa, Sicily and North Western Europe.
    It was made up of:
  • 4th Battalion, Black Watch (to 12th June 1940)
  • 5th Battalion, Gordon Highlanders (to 12th June 1940)
  • 6th Battalion, Gordon Highlanders (to 12th June 1940)
  • 5th Battalion, Black Watch (from Aug 1940)
  • 1st Battalion, Gordon Highlanders (from Aug 1940)
  • 5/7th Battalion, Gordon Highlanders (from Aug 1940)

If you have any unwanted photographs, documents or items from the First or Second World War, please do not destroy them. The Wartime Memories Project will give them a good home and ensure that they are used for educational purposes.
