51st (Highland) Division
51st (Highland) Division proceeded to France in January 1940 and saw action in the Battle of France, surrendering at St Valery on the 12th of June where the survivors were taken Prisoner of War. In August 1940 a new 51st (Highland) Division was formed by the redesignation of the 9th (Highland) Infantry Division. They went on to see action in North Africa, Sicily and North Western Europe.
