If you have already submitted a story to the site and your UID reference number is higher than 264989 your information is still in the queue, please do not resubmit, we are working through them as quickly as possible.

Want to find out more about your relative's service? Want to know what life was like during the War? Our Library contains an ever growing number diary entries, personal letters and other documents, most transcribed into plain text.
Wanted: Digital copies of Group photographs, Scrapbooks, Autograph books, photo albums, newspaper clippings, letters, postcards and ephemera relating to WW2. We would like to obtain digital copies of any documents or photographs relating to WW2 you may have at home.If you have any unwanted photographs, documents or items from the First or Second World War, please do not destroy them. The Wartime Memories Project will give them a good home and ensure that they are used for educational purposes.

Harry Stiven served with the Highland Light Infantry and London Scottish.
Pte. John Mitchell London Scottish
John Mitchell enlisted when he was working as a farm labourer in Scotland. He was awarded: 1939-45 Star, Defence Medal, Africa Star, Italy Star and Ribbons. He was issued his Release Leave Certificate in Pola, Italy on 26th of November 1945.Rosemary Mitchell-McAuley
William Alfred Ward London Scottish
My father, William Ward joined the London Scottish in 1940. He later served as a sergeant in a Royal Artillery Anti Aircraft unit until 1945.William Ward
Pte. John Kelly 8th Btn Argyll and Sutherland Highlanders
John Kelly joined the Argyll and Sutherland Highlanders in 1937 and served with the 9th Battalion from 1937 to 1939 then with the London Scottish until 1942, when he transferred to the 8th Argyll and Sutherland Highlanders and served in North Africa and Italy. He was awarded the 1939/45 Star, Africa Star, Italy Star, Defence Medal, War Medal, Coronation Medal, TA Efficiency Medal (with 2 clasps) and was promoted to Corporal in 1958, being discharged on the 15th of January 1962.M Clements
