15th/19th Kings Royal Hussars



   15th/19th Kings Royal Hussars were based at York serving with 3rd Division when war broke out in 1939. They saw action in France and after heavy losses the remaining personnel were evacuated from Dunkirk. They they joined 3rd Motor Machine Gun Brigade, later redesignated 28th Armoured Brigade, 9th Armoured Division. They saw action in North Western Europe with 11th Armoured Division.

Wanted: Digital copies of Group photographs, Scrapbooks, Autograph books, photo albums, newspaper clippings, letters, postcards and ephemera relating to WW2. We would like to obtain digital copies of any documents or photographs relating to WW2 you may have at home.

If you have any unwanted photographs, documents or items from the First or Second World War, please do not destroy them. The Wartime Memories Project will give them a good home and ensure that they are used for educational purposes. Tpr. John William "Jack" Campion 15th/19th A Sqn. King's Royal Hussars

John Campion served with the 15/19th Kings Royal Hussars in WW2. He was captured and held prisoner at Stalag XXID from May 1940 to June/July 1944, before being transferred to Stalag 344, Lamsdorf, Silesia.

Bdsm. George Sargent 15th/19th Rgt. King's Royal Hussars

My father was in the 15th/19th King's Royal Hussars Regiment and a POW from 1940. He was in a few camps but one I remember is Stalag 8b. He was wounded at Dunkrik and captured.
