About
4th/7th Dragoon Guards
4th/7th Dragoon Guards converted to tanks in 1938, they were the first British armoured unit to arrive in France with the British Expeditionary Force, partially equipped with Mark IV light tanks and Bren gun carriers. After seeing action in Belgium, they were evacuated via Dunkirk and joined 1st Armoured Reconnaissance Brigade, 9th Armoured Division. In 1943 they transferred to 79th Armoured Division. They landed in Normandy as part of 8th Armoured Brigade, on D-Day and saw action across North Western Europe.
