AB. Arthur Ernest Collins SS Norman Queen (d.8th Mar 1941)
Arthur Collins was lost at sea on convoy FN426. He was a Royal Naval Gunner on a armed merchant ship SS Norman Queen that was attacked and sunk by E Boat S1 just off the coast of Norfolk. I believe the Captain was the only survivor of the crew of approximately 12. He was on his final trip before returning to Royal Naval service.Rob Brooks
PO. Frederick William Northmore HMS Repulse
My father, Frederick Northmore, served in the Royal Navy in WW2. Born 1921, he joined the Navy as a boy in 1937. Dad served on HMS Repulse; MV Ulster Queen. HMS Orion, HMS Nile, HMS Dulverton, HMS Nile (Sphinx), HMS Birmingham and HMS Forth until his discharge in 1962. Unfortunately for me any medals he may have been presented with have been lost. Dad died in 1985.Diane Hardy
PO. Charles Scorer Gilbertson HV Medway Queen
My dad, Charles Gilbertson, served on shore mine sweeepers, most of the war on board HV Medway Queen, both prior to the war when she was a passenger paddle stream running down the Thames and then during the war. She was decorated for her efforts during Dunkirk, she is being refurbished in Chatham and I visited recently. He also served in South Africa at Assagi and Europa. If any one has any stories relating to these ships I would love to hear them. He died in 1985
Brian Gilbertson
Stkr. Arthur Sidney Frounks The Ryde Queen
My late father's name was Arthur Sydney Frounks and he was born in Taunton, Somerset on 3 June 1916 and passed away on 17 December 1998. He served during the Second World War and was stationed at HMS Royal Arthur Class 112 in Skegness.I know he served on the Paddle Steamer the Ryde Queen which I am led to believe was a minesweeper. I also know from things which my late father told me one ship which he was on was blown up and he got sucked through the funnel on the ship and I believe it was only my father and seven other officers who survived.
I am trying to trace his naval records, any information which anuone may be able to give me will be of great help I am trying to set up a family tree.
