Want to find out more about your relative's service? Want to know what life was like during the War? Our Library contains an ever growing number diary entries, personal letters and other documents, most transcribed into plain text.
Wanted: Digital copies of Group photographs, Scrapbooks, Autograph books, photo albums, newspaper clippings, letters, postcards and ephemera relating to WW2. We would like to obtain digital copies of any documents or photographs relating to WW2 you may have at home.If you have any unwanted photographs, documents or items from the First or Second World War, please do not destroy them. The Wartime Memories Project will give them a good home and ensure that they are used for educational purposes.

He died of wounds and was aged 19 at death. He is said to be interred at Longueval Cemetery in France. His uncle (my grandad William Henry Catterall) served throughout the First War. .Peter A. Smith

Sgt. Patrick Fitch. Royal Army Medical Corps, 149 Field Ambulance. (d.4th Sep 1944)
Patrick Finch served with 149 Field Ambulance, RAMC and was killed in action on the 4th September 1944, aged 29. He is buried in Annoeullin Communal Cemetery and German Extension in France. Patrick was the son of John and Mary Fitch and the husband of Agnes P. Fitch, of Glasgow.S Flynn
Pte. Leslie Charles Newell. British Army, 6th Btn. Durham Light Infantry. (d.4th Sep 1944)
Leslie Charles Newell served with the 6th Battalion, Durham Light Infantry during WW2 and was killed in action 04/09/1944 aged 28. He was buried in the Annoeullin Communal Cemetery and German Extension in France.S Flynn
Tpr. Stanley Sidney Bright. British Army, Reconnaissance Corps. (d.4th Sep 1944)
I am researching Stanley Bright, who served with the Recconnaissance Corps. He died 'aged 32 on 4th September 1944 and is buried in the Communal Chelerts Cemetery 2, in the Pas-de-Calais, France. He was the son of Thomas George and Ella Roberta Bright. He was married to Gladys Florence Bright, of Bermondsey London. He had children in England. They may still be alive and I would like to correspond with them about their father. Can anyone help me in my research?Frederick Turner

Aa Memorial Service will take place on Saturday 4 October 2014 in Mertert, Luxembourg at the graves of Flying Officer D D Hall and Flying Officer B R Dwyer both of 107 Squadron RAF. They were shot down on the 2nd September 1944 and are buried in a local cemetery. It will be attended by Senior Officers of the RAF and local dignitaries. Anyone with information on the crew and their mission should contact me.Brian Darke

Celebrate your own Family History
Celebrate by honouring members of your family who served in the Secomd World War both in the forces and at home. We love to hear about the soldiers, but also remember the many who served in support roles, nurses, doctors, land army, muntions workers etc.
Please use our Family History resources to find out more about your relatives. Then please send in a short article, with a photo if possible, so that they can be remembered on these pages.
The free section of the Wartime Memories Project website is run by volunteers. We have been helping people find out more about their relatives wartime experiences since 1999 by recording and preserving recollections, documents, photographs and small items.
The website is paid for out of our own pockets, library subscriptions and from donations made by visitors. The popularity of the site means that it is far exceeding available resources and we currently have a huge backlog of submissions.
