Our Library contains an ever growing number diary entries, personal letters and other documents, most transcribed into plain text. Wanted: Digital copies of Group photographs, Scrapbooks, Autograph books, photo albums, newspaper clippings, letters, postcards and ephemera relating to WW2. We would like to obtain digital copies of any documents or photographs relating to WW2 you may have at home. If you have any unwanted photographs, documents or items from the First or Second World War, please do not destroy them. The Wartime Memories Project will give them a good home and ensure that they are used for educational purposes. Stories from 21st October 1941 Jacob Robinson. ARP Rescue Service, . (d.21st Oct 1941) Jacob Robinson was 40 when he died at ARP Council Yard Glen Street Hebburn. Born in Gateshead in 1900, he was the son of Jacob and Ellen Robison of Hebburn. He lived at 3 Oswald Road Hebburn Jacob is buried in Hebburn Cemetery and is commemorated on the WW2 Roll of Honour Plaque in the entrance of Jarrow Town Hall. Vin Mullen Add to this record. Flt.Sgt. Alec Park. Royal Air Force, 82 Sqdn.. (d.21st October 1941) Alec Park flew with F/S G P Haines and P/O J H Robinson in Blenheim UXO-A (V5634). The plane was shot down by F W Ederer of 3/JG53 Katwijk aan Zee Holland, around 15.30 during an attack on shipping off the Dutch coast. He was reported as missing. Also shot down on the same mission UXO/O (V6146) P/O B B Barber, P/O H H Pibus, F/S E W Paine. Ian Maddox Add to this record. Sgt. Robert Pinkerton. Royal Air Force Volunteer Reserve, No. 99 Squadron. (d.21st Oct 1941) Robert Pinkerton was the elder son of Robert and Agnes Pinkerton. His father was a solicitor having offices both in Edinburgh and Perth. Robert attended Sedburgh School with his younger brother. After entering wartime service at RAF Padgate, he was mustered as an air gunner and posted to No. 99 Squadron, which was based at RAF Waterbeach in Cambridgeshire. There, he was assigned to a Wellington bomber, which went missing whilst on a bombing mission over Antwerp. The aircraft and the crew (all sergeants) were never found. His younger brother Alexander Carrick Pinkerton died during the same week on war operations. He was a second lieutenant in the Durham Light Infantry. John Black Add to this record.

The popularity of the site means that it is far exceeding available resources and we currently have a huge backlog of submissions.
