Wanted: Digital copies of Group photographs, Scrapbooks, Autograph books, photo albums, newspaper clippings, letters, postcards and ephemera relating to WW2. We would like to obtain digital copies of any documents or photographs relating to WW2 you may have at home. If you have any unwanted
photographs, documents or items from the First or Second World War, please do not destroy them.
The Wartime Memories Project will give them a good home and ensure that they are used for educational purposes. Please get in touch for the postal address, do not sent them to our PO Box as packages are not accepted.

Lt. Henry Joseph Patterson. Royal Navy, HMS Fidelity. (d.30th Dec 1942) My father Henri Joseph Pruvost (aka Lt.Henry Patterson) served under Costa, skipper of the French naval vessel SS Rhin (later to be renamed HMS Fidelity a Q ship with the Royal Navy). I would be happy to hear from anyone who has a "French" connection with the crew of this ill fated boat. I am also trying to obtain information about the French origins (birth,residence, career, family) of my father via old Admirality records and from at present uncertain French sources. Can anyone help?Geraint Dyfnallt

Marine. William Bradley. Royal Marines, HMS Fidelity. (d.30th Dec 1942) Billy Bradley was my mother's brother. He was born in Newry co Down.
He worked at Pinewood Studios in London before the war and was conscripted into the Marines. He was then sent on a special assignment on HMS Fidelity and went down with the ship. He was with a marine friend by the name of Saddler and his mother visited my grandparents after they went missing. Billy was 21 years old when he died. My grand mother never really believed he was dead because they never buried him.

Able.Sea. Arthur Thomas Moss. Royal Navy, HMS Fidelity. (d.30th Dec 1942) My great grandfather Arthur Moss was a caring loving man. His last letter stated to his wife that he had a very bad feeling about the fight he was going to fight and told her he doesn't think he will return. A heart breaking letter that told the utmost truth.Chelsea Jones

Fus. Walter Evans. British Army, 10th Btn. Lancashire Fusiliers. (d.30th Dec 1942) My grandfather, Walter Evans of the Lancashire Fusiliers was killed in Burma in 1942. I'm trying to find any photographs.Gary Cullen

Stokr. Charles William Parfitt. Royal Navy, HMS Fidelity. (d.30th Dec 1942) Charles Parfitt is my uncle whom I never met. He was much loved and missed by my relatives, one of whom is still alive (Joy, one of his sisters). He was a joker and was always playing tricks on his sisters. He couldn't wait to join up and even lied about his age. What a waste. God bless Charlie.Amanda Ross

Mar. Harry William Shockley. Royal Marines, T Coy. No. 40 Commando. (d.30th Dec 1942) Harry Shockley is the older brother of my grandmother. I heard my grandfather mention him when I was very young, always in a proud tone of voice.Lee
