My Uncle, George Heyes, was killed while covering the evacuation of Dunkirk, he was part of a machine gun post that was ordered to hold off the advancing German forces for as long as possible while the remainder of the British forces were evacuated from the beaches. His brother, Frank was captured and spent most of the war in a POW camp.
